Littera Education enables K-12 schools and districts to design, deliver and monitor high-dosage tutoring programs for every student that needs academic support. Today the company announced that Dr. Janet Wilson, the former Chief of Teaching, Learning, and Schools for Montgomery County Public Schools in Maryland, has joined the leadership of Littera as Senior Vice President, District Solutions.

Janet joins Littera to oversee the company's client engagement and consulting work, providing customers that adopt the Littera Academic Support Platform with the guidance and design services that will ensure districts successfully deliver high-dosage tutoring programs in line with their instructional model.

Littera CEO and Founder Justin Serrano heralded the company’s new hire, “We could not be more excited that Dr. Wilson has decided to join the Littera leadership team. She brings 40 years of experience in helping K-12  districts align their teaching and learning strategies to support student performance, with a particular lens on equity. We look forward to Dr. Wilson bringing her wealth of experience to our K-12 district clients to help them  design effective supports and achieve improved academic outcomes

For the past five years, Dr. Wilson has worked at the Montgomery County Public Schools in several academic leadership roles, including serving as Chief of Teaching, Learning, and Schools.  Before her work at Montgomery County, Dr. Wilson was the Superintendent for Garrett County Public Schools (MD) and Chief Academic Officer for Allegany County Public Schools (MD).

In her role at Montgomery County Public Schools, Dr. Wilson supervised over 200 school principals collectively serving over 160,000 students in addition to ensuring that curriculum, instruction, and assessment served the needs of all students, including special education learners and English Speakers of Other Languages. A foundational component of Dr. Wilson’s work at MCPS included student engagement and family and student support, as ensuring that students' social and emotional needs are addressed is a key aspect of ensuring students can fully meet their potential.

“I am so excited to join Littera, said Dr. Wilson, “I was inspired by the company’s mission of enabling equitable, high-dosage academic support programs for school districts of all sizes. Coming out of COVID, districts need to have a strategy to address unfinished learning for students and Littera has the right focus on integrating tutoring into a district's existing instructional model”.
