About Littera Education

Littera was founded on the premise that high-quality tutoring can dramatically improve student outcomes. The problem is that traditional tutoring models are not widely accessible to students who need it most due to the high cost and operational intensity of delivering tutoring in a school setting. Our goal is to enable school systems to design and deliver equitable, high-quality, and effective tutoring to every student who needs it.

Our Story

Littera was started in 2020, drawing on founder Justin Serrano’s decades of experience working in the tutoring industry, running a professional learning business supporting Title I schools, and, most recently, in ed-tech leadership roles in large-scale assessment, data analytics, and learning management companies.

Our team brings extensive experience in education technology and tutoring services. An integral member of the team who has been with Littera since its early days is Dr. Janet Wilson, former Chief of Teaching, Learning & Schools at Montgomery County Schools, MD, which serves over 160,000 students. Janet has nearly 40 years’ experience in education as a classroom teacher, principal, and superintendent.

In just 4 years, Littera has become a leader in this work, providing school systems with high-impact tutoring services, supporting statewide tutoring organizations with our platform and program management services, and contributing to cutting-edge research with prominent universities and foundations.
