Littera Tutors must tutor from within the United States to remain eligible for employment.
If you are a returning tutor, you must reapply regardless of when you last tutored.
Littera provides lessons to tutors with little to no prep time. An administrative payment will be included for every 1 hour of sessions successfully completed tutors will receive 15 minutes (.25 of an hour) of administrative time. The administrative payment is in consideration a variety of items such as opening curriculum portals and locating the starting point, briefly reviewing session content, providing post-session feedback after the session, support ticket communications (if needed), and reviewing emails from the Littera team.
Currently, we offer part-time tutoring opportunities.
Our virtual tutors are classified as W-2 part-time employees.
Currently, Littera is hiring tutors who live in the states: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and Wisconsin.
We do not have a minimum number of hours you need to work or a minimum amount of sessions per week.
Our tutoring hours take place Monday-Friday 8AM-8PM.
Littera will not mandate set hours, however will continue to seek tutors that have consistent week to week calendar availability at the same hours each week to best accommodate a Littera tutoring schedule. You may tutor up to 25 hours per week.
Although fingerprinting is not mandatory, opting for it allows for more sessions. Tutors who are fingerprinted will be able to start tutoring sooner. Littera covers the cost of tutor background checks and fingerprinting.
Sessions are scheduled based on the time required to complete onboarding, LMS training, and the selection of subjects, grade levels, and calendar availability. The more diverse the tutors' certifications, the greater the availability of sessions to address current tutoring needs.
Please note: The platform seeks to book a full series with consistent availability, week to week, most often 3 to 5 times a week, at the same times.
Some school districts require tutors to be fingerprinted, which will open up more sessions if tutors choose to do so. Littera covers the costs of fingerprints.
Tutors are W-2 Employees and are paid bi-weekly (every two weeks). Onboarding and administrative time are paid at the $18 per hour rate. Tutors earn $18 per hour for English/ELL/Reading and Math sessions. Tutors who successfully complete an algebra assessment can tutor a high school Algebra I series for $22 per hour.
Vacation and PTO time are allowed, but they are unpaid. If you need time off, you will decline lessons and block your calendar for the days you need off, and submit a ticket to tutorsupport@litteraeducation.com.
If the state you reside in has state regulations for sick time, you will have sick leave available to you and will be seen in the HR portal.
