Wappingers Falls, N.Y. — Aug. 29, 2023 Littera Education, a leader in K-12 high-impact tutoring, has been selected by the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) as an approved vendor for the New Jersey Learning Acceleration Program: High-Impact Tutoring Grant. New Jersey public school districts may apply for up to $768,000 in funds, and applications for the one-year grant program are due Sept. 20, 2023.

The goal of the grant program is to prioritize high-impact tutoring interventions for students who have been disproportionately affected by the pandemic. Through this initiative, New Jersey districts can partner with Littera to design and deliver a high-impact tutoring program that follows evidence-based practices to ensure students achieve their learning goals.

“Littera was started to help the kids most in need right where they are, which is in public schools,” said Justin Serrano, CEO and co-founder of Littera. “We commend the NJDOE for launching this initiative to promote academic recovery and accelerate learning, and we look forward to partnering with New Jersey districts and schools to help their students achieve greater academic success.”

Littera customizes tutoring intervention for K-12 schools and districts by supporting any student, subject, schedule, or staffing model. With virtual tutors, curriculum integrations, and the Littera Tutoring Management System (TMS), districts can provide individualized support to every student who needs it.

“Littera puts relationships first. We pair students with a consistent tutor so they build trust and rapport,” said Serrano. “This approach, combined with the quality of our tutors and the ease of use of our TMS, is why so many districts and schools rely on Littera to drive better outcomes for their students.”

New Jersey is the latest state to partner with Littera for statewide high-impact tutoring initiatives. Since 2022, state departments of education in Alabama, Maryland, Rhode Island, Tennessee, and Texas have chosen Littera as an approved tutoring provider.

The New Jersey Learning Acceleration Program: High-Impact Tutoring Grant is open to all operating New Jersey public school districts serving students in grades three and/or four. Districts applying for the grant must use the Electronic Web-Enabled Grants (EWEG) System accessed through the NJDOE’s Homeroom web portal, https://homeroom.state.nj.us/.
